Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez was born in Mexico. She is an American Mexican actress. She sings as well. Her mother was her primary caregiver in the USA in a place where she endured many racial taunts that caused her to feel as someone who was not wanted. The confidence started to build during the 9th grade, when she entered a school audition and was highly praised for her performance. This not only increased the confidence of her, but also changed the direction of her career. At 22 she was a graduate of New York's Julliard School. She began her career at the age of 23 in Paul Simon's The Capeman on Broadway and The You've Got Mail film. Her most memorable break came from the role of The Lady of The Lake, in the original Broadway production of Spamalot. She won the Tony Award and received great appreciation for her performance. The following year, she was cast in the ABC program Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Callie Torres and gained wider recognition for it. As a well-known singer, she also released a single and an extended play. In addition, she's an activist and works extensively to promote LGBT rights.
